...explores how computational technologies can engage the arts, humanities, business, and social sciences; and how cultural perspectives impact and transform STEM disciplines. Examples include digital arts and expression, technology adoption, and interactive computational STEAM.

Much research at LSU CCT engages computational science, technology,  engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In parallel, computation transformatively touches virtually all topics of academia, and across  society at large. Paralleling the common "scientific computing" term, "cultural computing" has been used both at CCT and elsewhere to identify research engaging the computational arts, humanities, digital and social media, business, and other broader entanglements and impacts of computation. Some of these efforts strongly engage STEM disciplines; others do not. Current CCT Cultural Computing faculty find tenure homes in LSU's School of Art, School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, School of Music, Manship School of Mass Communications, and Department of Information Systems & Decision Sciences.
